As an instructor with Pilates of Dunwoody, Cristina was first introduced to the bodywork modality of Ortho-Bionomy (O-B) in 2008 and began learning the subtle and effective system of neuromuscular re-education in 2009.
Ortho-Bionomy naturally complements Pilates and facilitates greater range of motion, structural alignment, the self-corrective reflex, and regaining/remembering homeostasis or balance in the body. Moreover, O-B addresses weakness and/or imbalances and aids in injury recovery.
Cristina became a Practitioner of Ortho-Bionomy in January 2014, and an Advanced Practitioner in August 2015. She has over 1,000 hours of coursework, sessions, service and study in O-B.
The guiding principles of O-B include :
*Move toward comfort
*Exaggerate the pattern
*Less is more
*Take the whole being
*Go with the flow
*Be nonjudgmental
*Stay in right relationship and right timing
*Encourage self-recognition and self-correction
*Work "with" clients not "on" them
*Co-create, facilitate, and integrate
Two of Cristina's blog posts are especially useful for understanding Ortho-Bionomy. Check out "A to Z" with O-B" and "333 and O-B" for more information.
The sessions are approximately one-hour long, are received fully clothed in comfortable attire (workout wear is perfect), and the cost is $80--cash or check
Also, visit the main O-B website at https://www.ortho-bionomy.org or call the studio for more information or to make an appointment.
